Yes, I have been bad. I have worked on these each day, just have not been able to finish them, until today. I would not let this craziness go on longer than three days. I hope to keep up-to-date with my daily devotional postings for 30 Days of Thanksgiving for the remainder of the month!
Day Thirteen – Unshakable Gratitude
“Therefore since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful and do worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.” -Hebrews 12:28Today I am thankful for all the blessings I have been given in my life. I tend to get caught up in the minutia of day to day life and I lose sight of the bigger picture the Lord has painted so beautifully for me. One of the tricks I have been using is cognitive behavioral therapy. When I catch myself thinking in a maladaptive manner, I purposefully change my thought process, and reverse the direction so that I am thinking positively (or at neutrally). I am getting better at this, slowly but surely, and its helping me enjoy life more, appreciate those blessings I have been given – a job I love with a great group co-workers, I am lucky enough to be able to call the most wonderful man in the world my husband (sorry ladies!), a house we have made a home, two gorgeous German Shepherd rescues, and so much more…
Day Fourteen – An Orphan Tradition
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” - James 1:27I am thankful for my lifelong friends and family who accept me exactly as I am, flaws and all. I am grateful that I have friends who would be there for me, no questions askedI am thankful to be able to become close friends to those who were once strangers to me, and I accept them, exactly as they are. If I know someone is going to be alone on a holiday, especially Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, Jon and I will invite them to spend time with us because no one deserves to be alone, especially during the holidays.
Day Fifteen – God’s “People Gifts”
“I thank my God every time I remember you.” - Philippians 1:3I am thankful for the people God brought into my life because I needed them. At my previous employment, where I worked for eight years, the Lord brought many good influences into my life, and a few lifetime friends. He has facilitated Facebook, yes, Facebook to reconnect me with loved ones, long-lost friends, and even people who were friends with my mommy.
